Why does following God sometimes require us to endure seasons that hurt? In “Why Does It Have to Hurt So Bad?” we continue the Fruit of the Spirit series with a focus on longsuffering patiently enduring hardship and difficult circumstances without giving up, becoming bitter, or retaliating.

Through Paul’s thorn in the flesh, we are reminded that sometimes God does not immediately remove the thing causing us discomfort. Instead, His grace sustains us, His strength is revealed in our weakness, and the process develops patience, humility, endurance, and dependence on Him.

Pain does not have to destroy your faith. Even in the seasons when you cannot see what God is doing, do not lose your expectation. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep showing up. The process may hurt, but God can use the process to strengthen, establish, and settle you.
